Teleprompter apps compared
Prices, floating windows, voice tracking and watermarks, side by side. Figures are what each app advertised in September 2026; check your own store for local pricing.
We make one of these apps. The table says where the others win, because a comparison you cannot trust is worth nothing to you.

Which one to pick
- You want the script to follow your voice. Beast, at $2.99 a month, and it is on their free plan too. PromptSmart Pro is the more mature version of the same idea, English only, $29.99 once. We do not have voice tracking.
- You read at your own pace and hate losing your place. Ours. The text runs edge to edge and reaches the very top of the screen, right under the lens, and the speed steps in small increments you can change mid-take rather than a slider that is always slightly wrong.
- You film in TikTok, Instagram or on a video call, not in the teleprompter app. On Android, ours floats over whatever you are using, resizable and docked to the top. On iPhone, Beast or Teleprompter for Video.
- You want captions, branding and publishing in one place. BIGVU. It costs three times more and its prompter is plainer, but it replaces several tools.
- You need a script imported from Word, PDF or Google Docs. PromptSmart Pro or Teleprompter.com. We cannot import files yet.
- You need a Bluetooth remote or a foot pedal. Teleprompter.com has the widest hardware support. We have none.
Questions people ask
- What is the best teleprompter app?
- It depends on one question: do you want the script to follow your voice, or do you want to control the pace yourself? For voice following, Beast is the cheapest option and PromptSmart Pro is the most mature. For reading at your own pace with the text right at the lens, our Teleprompter app is built around that and has no watermark on any plan. For an all-in-one video suite with captions and publishing, BIGVU does more but costs more.
- Which teleprompter apps are actually free?
- Free plans in this category usually mean a watermark on your video, a length cap, or both. Beast's free plan is genuinely usable, with voice follow reading and 1080p recording without a watermark, limited to 5 scripts. Our web prompter at teleprompter.postcrows.com is free with no account and no install, and the app gives you 2 free recordings before Teleprompter Pro is needed for more. Teleprompter.com and BIGVU watermark recordings on their free plans.
- Which teleprompter app floats over other apps?
- Beast and Teleprompter for Video both float on iPhone using Picture-in-Picture. Our app floats on Android, in a window you can drag, resize and dock to the top of the screen over TikTok, Instagram, the stock camera or a video call. On iPhone no app can truly draw over another; the ones that do it use Picture-in-Picture, which is smaller and cannot be tapped.
- Which teleprompter app writes the script for you?
- BIGVU, Teleprompter.com and our app all generate scripts from a topic. Beast and PromptSmart do not. What differs is the second pass: our app rewrites a single line while leaving the rest of the script word for word, suggests three alternative opening lines for a script you wrote yourself, and turns spoken dictation into a clean script in your own voice. On our side those AI features are part of Teleprompter Pro.
- Does a teleprompter app put a watermark on my video?
- Some do on their free plans, and it is the most common complaint in reviews across this category. Our app never watermarks a recording on any plan, including while you are using your 2 free recordings.
